VISION
Immediately proceeding the performance
of STANDING CLEAR on June 16th, we held a post show
talk-back and reception. The creative team behind STANDING
CLEAR was joined by representatives from
Hollaback NYC and Girls
for Gender Equity.
Hollaback has
been battling subway harassment via an online "out your
harasser" campaign. You can write in your own stories
of Subway harassment on their blog format and include a photo
of your harasser to warn fellow passengers.
Girls
for Gender Equity is a Bed-Stuy based organization
committed to empowering young women to fight street harassment
within their own community.
This was our chance get to
the darker, underbelly of the subway. It's not all funny
and beautiful. It can be a minefield, and we wanted a chance
to expose some of that side. Both of these organizations
work tirelessly to shed a light on something that happens
every day and yet is often not taken seriously. We thought
it was a perfect fit for Coffee Cup, as we work tirelessly
to shed a light on the everyday interactions that are taken
for granted. One might say, we are two sides of the same
coin.
Tickets for this performance
are $30,
and will include the FULL RECEPTION with open bar and hors
d'oeuvres.
A PORTION OF EACH TICKET
WAS DONATED TO GIRLS FOR GENDER EQUITY.
