Hemmendy Nelson:
Co-Founder
Hemmendy Nelson was born
in Denmark, growing up in Italy and Belgium before spending
her high school years in Rhode Island. Prior to moving
to New York City, she lived in Chicago with a brief stint
in Scotland. Favorite roles include Roxane in Cyrano de
Bergerac, Paulina in Death and the Maiden, Oneida in Cyber
Womb. She can be seen in the documentary “Casting
About,”
currently making the film festival rounds (e.g., Sydney,
Toronto, Chicago, Boston). She received her BFA in Theatre
Arts from Illinois Wesleyan University. This is Hemmendy’s
first foray into writing for the stage. She happily retired
her waitress’ apron years ago and is currently working
with a music licensing company. A variety of temp job experiences
promise to find their way into her one-woman show one day.
She got her name from her Swedish grandmother.
